5 Minutes with Jordan Lee

Join us for 5 minutes whilst we profile our agents around the country. Today, we hear from Jordan Lee – Joint State Head - NSW Asia Markets.
  1. How did you get started in property?
I’ve always had an interest in property and people, so in early 2000 I decided to give real estate a go and from then I’ve been in property ever since.

  2. What is happening in your market right now?
We have a lot of interest from the local and offshore Asian buyers at the moment but there is a lack of stock available which is making life interesting.

  3. How has COVID affected your market? What are you/your team doing to combat this?
The travel ban has affected a lot of our offshore clients who are not able to fly in to inspect the properties. We are now doing submissions with videos and making sure all properties we are selling have detailed video components.

  4. When do you think the market will bounce back?
The local Asian buyers are still aggressive in the market but until travel restrictions ease there will be limited new entrant buyers.

  5. What is one tip you would give investors/landlords right now?
With the low AU dollar and interest rates, the Australian property market looks appealing especially if the asset is tenanted. If you are thinking of selling your asset, it will be a good time to consider selling.

  6. What is one tip you would give owners right now?
COVID-19 has thrown a spanner in the works but that spanner is temporary. We have already seen how quickly the world can grow and adapt to change and the market will recover, so it will be best if owners and tenants work together through this.

  7. Name one career highlight from the past 12-18 months & why.
Selling 106 King Street – an iconic, freehold, vacant heritage building on King Street which is where all the high end fashion brands are moving to. The highlight was running a successful and competitive auction campaign which allowed us to achieve the highest per sqm rate in the precinct. We had a lot of High Net Worth privates looking for flagship assets and a lot of clients in Asia hoping to secure a flagship presence in the Sydney CBD.

  8. Tell us about the most unique/special property you have sold.
76-78 Liverpool Street, Sydney – This property has an iconic tenant (BBQ King) which has been in business in Chinatown for a long time and was previously marketed with another agent and wasn’t successful. So we took on the job and ran an international EOI campaign and was able to achieve a great price and terms the vendor was happy with.
