The funds will be distributed equally between The Red Cross Australia Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund, The Salvation Army, WIRES and the Cobargo & District Emergency Hay fund.
The latest charity to receive their donation is the Cobargo & District Emergency Hay fund. The dairy farming community of Cobargo is located 380km south of Sydney and the town was tragically decimated by fire on the morning of New Year’s Day.
Some 500 homes and 65% of the town’s main street were lost. In addition, two lives were lost – father and son, Robert and Patrick Salway. Historic properties and many generational land holdings were wiped out however, the town is resilient and are working together to clean up what has been described as a war zone.
Paul Craig, CEO of Savills Australia and New Zealand said “We wish to acknowledge the people, wildlife and communities that have been greatly impacted by the devastating bushfires and sincerely thank the emergency services personnel and volunteers who have been working relentlessly to protect our country.
“It's clear that the impact of the catastrophic bushfires earlier this year is widespread and long lasting. Some of those affected in one way or another include our own team members and clients.
“In times like these, it's so important to come together as a community and do what we can to support those in need” he said.
