Ellenbrook Expands As Retail Destination

In a major milestone in the continued evolution of the master-planned Ellenbrook community, north of Perth, the expanded The Shops At Ellenbrook.

In a major milestone in the continued evolution of the master-planned Ellenbrook community, north of Perth, the expanded The Shops At Ellenbrook retail development will open its doors to the public on Thursday March 17.

Stage 2 of The Shops at Ellenbrook has significantly expanded the retail offering, from 10,000 sq m to approximately 30,000sq m, with the addition of a Big W store, Coles Supermarket and more than 60 new specialty shops.

The expanded centre complements Stage 1 of The Shops At Ellenbrook, which opened in 2004 and features a Woolworths, Best & Less and 25 specialty stores.

The Shops At Ellenbrook development has been exclusively leased by Savills, on behalf of the centre’s owner the Insurance Commission of Western Australia, since it was a greenfield site.

More than 90% of the new additional space in Stage 2 of the development was pre-leased prior to opening, with only limited opportunities remaining for specialty, kiosks and franchise operators.

Chris Ireland, Savills National Head of Retail Services, said the Stage 2 opening will take the retail offering of The Shops At Ellenbrook to a whole new level.

“The Shops At Ellenbrook is already well established within the Ellenbrook community but the expanded centre will deliver an exciting new retail destination and shopping experience for local and other Swan Valley residents,” Mr Ireland.

“Importantly, the extended centre will provide greater range and diversity in its retail offering to reflect the continued growth of Ellenbrook and will arrest retail spending that has been drifting outside the catchment.

“The new-look centre creates a one-stop shopping destination for the fast-growing Ellenbrook and surrounding subdivisions with a comprehensive offering of national retailers to meet all their shopping needs.”

National retailers opening at The Stage 2 of The Shops At Ellenbrook, alongside Big W and Coles, include the likes of The Reject Shop and Dick Smith.
The Shops At Ellenbrook also boasts a substantially expanded fashion category, including brands such as Diva, Lowes and Bras ‘n Things, as well as a much larger jewellery offering.

The new-look centre also features a number of cutting-edge architectural designs and features, including external showpiece floor to roofline murals.

It will also be the first shopping centre in Western Australia to target a 4 Star Green Star Rating for sustainable environmental design from the Green Building Council of Australia.

Savills Mr Ireland said The Shops at Ellenbrook continues to evolve into a world-class shopping destination for the residents of the Swan Valley.

“The much-anticipated opening of Stage 2 of The Shops At Ellenbrook is landmark event that further enhances the lifestyle and amenity of Ellenbrook,” he said.

“The number and quality of well-known national retail brands that will now have a presence at the centre is very exciting and is a great vote of confidence in the future growth of Ellenbrook.”

Expansion of The Shops At Ellenbrook is set to continue after the opening of Stage 2, with the planned addition of a new retail bulky goods precinct. Savills is now starting to take retailer enquiry with regard to the future bulky goods expansion.
