Top tips for selling your home: spring edition

Many buyers choose to market their home in the spring, making it a very busy time for the property market.

Therefore, it is important to make your home stand out from the crowd and ensure that you create an everlasting impression. Below you will find our top tips and advice, collated from some of our most experienced sales agents, for anyone wishing to sell their home in spring.

It’s about impact

James Levy, Sales Manager at St Ives said, “Attention to details counts. You have one opportunity to stand out from the competition – it is the little things that often make the most impact and difference.”

“Remember your property is on the market in competition, not in isolation, so it’s important to start preparing your home early to get it looking the best you can in the time and budget that you have – we are here to help you!!” added Stephanie Hearne, Sales Executive at Lindfield.

Spruce up your garden

Gardens create an important first impression so, have your gardening gloves and secateurs to the ready, it’s time to clear away pathways, overgrown hedges and start pruning for spring.

Don’t forget to check out what is in season by popping down to your local garden supplier. For example, with over a thousand varieties, tulips can create a magical garden.

Pest Inspection and Pre-Sale Building Reports

Thomas Skelly, auction specialist at Savills, advises his sellers to “Always provide a Pre-Sale Building and Pest inspection Report (or Strata Report for apartments) to every buyer requesting a contract. This has the effect of putting your buyers at ease because you have removed the unknown.”

Check out the agents

The internet has enabled access to otherwise unobtainable information about agents. Thomas Skelly recommends that sellers should google agents and to view any testimonials prior to selecting your agent. “It will assist you in making the most informed decision. Look to see what they have sold in your area and read what others have to say about them,” said Thomas.
