RICS appoints new Regional Engagement Group chair

11 June 2019

The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors has appointed a new chair of its Western Australia and South Australia Regional Engagement Group.

Savills Australia’s Associate Director for Office Leasing in Perth, Natalie Davies, has assumed the position after being a driving force behind RICS in WA and a strong advocate for RICS in the broader commercial property market.

Ms Davies said she was delighted to take on the role.

“Being offered this position is recognition of the hard work and effort that I have devoted to RICS, particularly in the three years since I’ve moved to WA,” she said.

“At this point in my career, and as a female within the industry, I feel honoured to be elected for such a role.”

Savills Australia & New Zealand’s CEO, Paul Craig, said Natalie’s appointment was “an absolute credit to her passion and hard work."

“Savills is proud to be associated with RICS, a globally recognised industry body enforcing the highest international standards in the valuation, management and development of land, real estate, construction and infrastructure,” he said.

“We give Natalie our full support in her involvement with the Regional Engagement Group, as this is an important representation for Savills within the market and demonstrates our commitment to the highest standards.”

Ms Davies said that “ensuring the Perth membership feels a connection to the global RICS platform” had been her key focus while she was Matrics chair.

“I hope that I can continue to connect the membership here in Perth and build on what we’ve managed to achieve in the past three years, work to build awareness within the industry and – importantly – continue to build a strong relationship with universities and schools,” she said.

“I’m also a committee member for the Property Education Foundation in Perth so I’m passionate about continuing this alliance.

“As an advocate for RICS, I’m looking forward to building on existing relationships and forging new connections.”

Ms Davies said the WA and SA Regional Engagement Group was planning to “tie down a couple of site tours in the coming months” and looked forward to revealing these to the membership.

“We have also been working on our university relationships, with the hope of delivering more holistic engagement with accredited courses,” she said.

Ms Davies has replaced Turner & Townsend director, Sheilagh Knowles, who has relocated to San Francisco.
